Fabtech Attendees – Tips for maximizing your time at the show
If you are planning to attend Fabtech 2018 – the largest metal fabrication show in the country, you better have a plan. Not just a list of equipment to look at like: CNC Press Brakes, Laser Cutting Systems, Automatic Band Saws, Shears, CNC Plasma Cutting Systems, Finishing Systems, CNC Plate Rolls, CNC Waterjets, Welders, Software, ect. Bouncing from booth to booth or serpentining your way through the show is a sure fire way to miss critical booths that you came to see.
The serpentine method: You spend all day walking without time to ask meaningful questions.
The spaghetti method: You bounce all over the show and waste time backtracking.
Here are some tips to help you make the most time at the show:
- Pre-register for the show online
- Review the show attendee list ahead of time and make a list of your must see booths. The Fabtech Website has a “My Expo Plan” section to help you create your list and identify booth numbers. Carry a checklist of booths/products to see.
- Set up appointments with your local distributor/representative to meet in the booth at specific times for key products you want to see. This will ensure you get the proper attention when you are there.
- Map out your key products based on your appointment times.
- Wear comfortable shoes
- Arrive at the show before the doors open on your first day to pick up your attendee badge or pick up the afternoon before the show begins if possible. You can avoid long lines by doing this.
- Don’t stop for lunch between 11:30 and 1:30. These are peak times and there will be long lines.
- Oh yah, wear comfortable shoes!
